I think we should invest in alternative fuel but it doesn't look like they are going to do that anytime soon. It doesn't seem like the government is too concerned. I love nature and the animals but they need to do something. I say if that is our only solution then start drilling.

its one of those things where we have the technology all around us and no one ever wants to use it. its like oh look I must have forgot that i had this design for a more fuel efficent or hydrogen cells in my other pair of pants. hell my marines put cells in thier trucks months ago using odds and ends from around the house.

For the most part I agree with you. However there are a few things to consider before you start tapping glaciers and installing oil platforms everywhere. First, how long would it take to build the facilities in ANWR? I'm guessing years before it's fully operational. Whats that going to for the gas prices right now? Not a whole lot, maybe drop the price per barrel by a few dollars in anticipation of the increased supply. But prince aziz in Saudi Arabia will sneeze the wrong way and cause the prices to shoot right back up. If they drilled in Alaska years ago we'd be in better shape now but the reality is we have the technology; help the auto makers design, develop, and produce new technologies so we can stick it to big oil like they have been sticking it to us.

I know that we need a solution for energy. That is not an argument. I could go on for hours, but the bottom line is that we are at a point of sink or swim with our economy and its power and influence. To get to alternative forms of energy at a mass production level we need to survive for the time being. It is estimated that in colorado, through the shale, there is an equal quantity of oil to that of the mid-east. We are americans damnit! We have faced great challenges in our SHORT birth as a country, but we have conquered!! We are the greatest nation to sit on the face of the earth. We are freedom fighters, we are full of sacrifice in the persuit of democracy throuout the world. Do i agree with forcing our idealogy on other countries? Hell no. I feel that we as americans have done too much for the world, EUROPE, hint hint!! That does not matter however. We have to collaborate as a nation and decide now, do we want to give up our hard work and blood and give up our empire to socialism, or do we want to take advantage of out vast resources and get through this tough time and lead the world to alternative energy of the future? And yes, I LOVE TREES AND NATURE. We as americans have the brain power to excavate oil safely. For christ sakes....., have we forgot the manhattan project??????

This is a tough choice but the reality is neither option is an immediate solution. I do think we need to throw everything we got at alternative fuel sources and we need to avoid at all costs damaging the environment. The last thing I want to do is to provide Big Oil with even more consumer raping black gold.

When telemarketers call (usually at meal time)I simply say "I'll be right back!" and put the phone down. They don't usually wait very long!
    The strange one.
