Mama Kaz, I have helped my sister in the soup lines in downtown Atlanta and found the same to be true.
Some of them tear your heart out, but others are rude, demanding and like you said, 'picky'. I still provide blankets and coats during the winter for these people, even if it is their choice to live that way.
